EDUCATION

FAMILY Education_edited.jpg

Education is the key to breaking the cycle of extreme poverty in remote, neglected areas of Myanmar.  But many families are unable to afford the uniforms and monthly fees to send their children to school.  Previously, these children would have had to go live in an orphanage to go to school.  Now Family-Based Child Care provides education for these boys and girls without having to leave the love and security of their family.

Family Based Mom story_edited.jpg

"My husband has passed away.  I have only one daughter but I couldn't afford to send her to school.  I really wanted her to be educated. I am working so hard but all the income I make is just enough for both of us to survive.

One day I met a Jesus Foot Soldier, from Asia Frontier Outreach.  As he learned about my family, he understood our deepest needs.  He referred my daughter to Family-Based Child Care.  When we heard that she was taken into the program, we had tears of joy!  Now my daughter could go to school!

God is our provider. Thank you, Jesus."

NUTRITION ASSISTANCE

1 in 3 children in Myanmar are malnourished –resulting in stunted growth and delays in motor and cognitive development* Based on the needs of individual families, and as funds allow, a monthly gift of rice, cooking oil, and a protein source is given to families in the Family-Based Child Care program.

SPIRITUAL SUPPORT

3 Coordinators oversee the Family-Based Child Care program in northern Myanmar.  They assess the needs of the child and the family, liaison between the school and family, and visit the family bi-weekly to offer encouragement and spiritual support.

"I am very thankful to God for bringing the Family-Based Child Care Coordinators who are encouraging our family, praying for us, and teaching us the Word of God every week. We have begun to grow in the Lord spiritually as never before. My children and I have been really transformed by the power of God and His word. We are sharing about the goodness of God with our friends and loved ones around us. Many of them have begun to see God in our lives and their lives have been changed and touched. Thank you so much for your continued help financially and prayer and love and care. May God bless you all in Christ Jesus." --FBCC Mom

NEXT STEPS

A core value of Asia Frontier Outreach is that no young person leaves the Family-Based Child Care Program without a plan for a safe, secure, and productive young adulthood.

For most young people who desire further education —university, Bible college, or job skills training – it is only possible for them with financial assistance.

Chasolo and Binyir, India,  were granted scholarships to bakery school.

Today they are in business for themselves and are supporting their younger siblings' education.

Having just graduated from seminary with high honors, this young man is now teaching Bible college and in a local high school in a far remote, northern community in Myanmar.

Sunshine, in her final year of Bible College. "I'm excited to serve the Lord wherever He leads me. I'm grateful to all the supporters  for giving me hope and a future."

HOW TO PARTNER WITH A FAMILY IN MYANMAR

  • PRAY for families in remote northern Myanmar struggling in extreme poverty;  for employment to meet their needs; for the children in school; for God's guidance for young people ready for "next steps" to jobs or further education.

  • SUPPORT a child's education in Myanmar.  For a child's school and nutrition needs is $100 a month.  Your monthly gift of any amount will make an eternal difference in a child's life.
